The Thornton Police Department has arrested 35-year-old Joshua Pittman in connection with the homicide that was reported on April 24 in the 1900 block of West 101st Avenue. Pittman and the victim were known to each other.

Officers initially responded to the location to check the well-being of a female. Detectives initiated a homicide investigation and subsequently identified Pittman as a person of interest. As the investigation progressed and additional evidence was gathered, Pittman was confirmed as the suspect.

Pittman was taken into custody on April 27 after turning himself in to the Northglenn Police Department. He was arrested on several charges including murder, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse. He was transported to the Adams County Jail.

Under Colorado law, the arrest and filing of criminal charges are merely formal accusations that an individual committed a crime. A defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
