Thornton Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred around 7:45 p.m. on Oct. 23 near the intersection of West 88th Avenue and Lipan Street.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 39-year-old male riding an electric scooter was traveling westbound on West 88th Avenue when a 22-year-old male driving a Dodge Caravan was traveling eastbound and attempting to turn north onto Lipan Street, colliding with the scooter.

The man riding the scooter was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Investigators are working to determine the circumstances of the crash. The driver of the Dodge was uninjured and remained on scene.

The man's identity is being withheld pending positive identification by the Adams County Coroner’s Office and notification of next of kin.
