News Release

The Thornton Police Department has arrested a 41-year-old man, Kody Jones, in connection with a shooting that occurred just after 6 p.m. on Jan. 25 in the 1400 block of East 98th Avenue. This appears to be an isolated incident involving individuals known to each other, and there is no ongoing threat to the public.

Officers responded to the area after receiving reports of shots heard and a request for medical assistance. Upon arrival, officers observed evidence indicating a residence had been struck by gunfire. One adult victim was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Around 6:15 p.m., the suspect contacted law enforcement and reported that he had shot someone. Officers located and took the suspect into custody without incident. He was arrested and transported to the Adams County Jail. An arrest is merely an accusation that an individual has committed an offense under Colorado laws. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. The information released is preliminary and may change as the investigation continues. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Thornton Police Department Tip Line at 720-977-5069.
